  1. Dear John.
I have not read your blog in depth, as I have just discovered it. Needless to say, I was very impressed, as your water colours were very much my liking and being a rank amateur and just starting out in this medium, I wish I had your talent. Have only been using water colours for a year to date.

Suffice to say, I would greatly appreciate your permission to copy some of them, and you will be safe in the knowledge, that my attempts will fall well short of yours. But I have to learn, and there is no better way than to learn and advance by copying something you really like. Some people frown upon this and shout ‘be original!!’, but forget that it takes a lot of skill to even copy from someone else. It is just another way of ‘learning the trade’ because you know the person you are copying have learnt their skills, and you are trying to ‘short cut’ and learn from them.

I have already put your blog on my ‘favourites’ and hope that you will long continue the blog, no doubt another labour of love! I have already been on your link to Pinterest. Another great aspect that I use and get many ideas from.

Once again many thanks for your blog, which must be of great interest to many people and is much appreciated by people such as myself.

    Kindest Regards

    1. Dear Jeffrey – thanks so much for you kind words – they really are appreciated and I’m sorry I’ve taken so long to reply. As with my painting efforts, the attention I’m able to pay to the blog often runs hot and cold! Please do feel free to copy any of my works, although I would strongly recommend going directly to the source images that I’m trying to learn from as they are far more superior! Good luck with your painting too, I know it’s totally infuriating but every now and then, something can just fall wonderfully into place and make it all worth it!

A penny for your thoughts...? (Not literally you understand - that could land me in a whole heap of trouble!)
