My Paintings

For those that don’t know me, my name’s John Haywood and I’m a passionate watercolour painter of landscapes, cityscapes, and interiors. I love the immediacy of watercolour and its infinite magical subtleties. In my mind, there is no better medium for capturing the often fleeting play of light across a scene.

An energetic, bold directness characterises my approach to painting. I don’t seek to create an exact representation but try to capture and evoke a distinctive sense of mood, drama, and atmosphere.

The work I’ll be showcasing at Starling Studios is mainly new work that has been created in the last year.

Below is a selection of just some of the fifty or so paintings that will be available to buy, that I’ve broadly grouped into three different sizes and price ranges.

All paintings come with a conservation grade mount and range in size from larger paintings (70cms x 50cms) and medium-sized paintings (50cms x 40cms) to smaller works that are A4 in size. All mounts are cut to fit in standard sized frames. Subject to availability, frames can be supplied for all sizes.

If you’d like to meet me, I’ll be at Starling Studios on the following dates and times:

  • Friday 10th December (Preview evening!) 5-8pm
  • Saturday 11th December 2-5pm
  • Thursday 16th December 2-5pm
  • Sunday 19th December 2-4pm

Larger works (50cms x 70cms)

Prices from £275 – £375

Medium Size paintings (50cms x 40cms)

Prices from £190 – £225

Smaller works (A4)

Prices range from £90 – £125.

Work by other exhibitors
